Goodbye my little sunshine Morgan

~Morgan LeRat May 2006 to August 2008~

My little Morgan LeRat passed away today.
She had developed ALS like symptoms and had lost
the use of her back legs and had problems swallowing
the last 3 days or so. I had noticed her back legs had
lost gripping power but she could still walk earlier this
month. Morgan was the first little ratlet of Phippa's that
I could pick out of the litter because of her joker's smile and
back markings. I would hold her before she even had her
eyes open and talk to her.
When she was several months old, she was still tiny enough to
squeeze through the bars of her cage and go roaming. She would
visit Rabbie Burns in his hutch and nap on his shelf with him.
She would roam the condo and come home two days later.
Then one day she visited Georgie Sr in his cage and came
home knocked up. But Morgan was the best Mommy, just
like her Mom Phippa.
She gave birth to nine healthy ratlets who all lived to get
into many things. Two of her sons lived behind the bureau
for several months, shredding paper and swiping food,
until they were big enough to not escape from
their homes. They loved adventures like their Mom, Morgan.
Morgan relocated from Hawaii with me to here in New Mewxico
and recovered from major surgery in January.
Within 2 days of her surgery, she was bouncing around the couch
and exploring underneath and all around back into her world
of adventures. Then she slowed down. Her back legs lost
the ability to grad and hold although she could still walk.
Her last days were tough because she couldn't move but
still was sharp as ever and wanting to be with me.
However, when I picked her up it caused her quite a lot
of discomfort it seemed, so I petted her and talked to her
while she rested in her cage. Today I was taking her to
the vet to be helped to the bridge since she couldn't hold
food anymore, but when I went in to get her, she had
passed away beside her daughter Morgana.

I love you and miss you Morgan.

Morgan LeRat

Yes Ms Morgan gets out plenty even though her pleading eyes in the WW picture below say otherwise. Here she is 2 days after her surgery doing her "cat-tail" dance. The little jig she does with her tail whenever she sees one of the Fluffy cats.

Ms. Morgan LeRat.....

You would not believe what happened to me. I had this HUGE
lump I was lugging around. So Mom took me to the VET and they kept it.
Now I have sewing stiches from my back left leg to my upper chest, and
Mom won't let me chew the thread. But I feel better and I can
run around again without being slowed down.
~Morgan LeRat~

Mom Jane here: Ms Morgan had to go in for a removal
of a lump on Friday the 18th. She did great and came home
the next day. She has huge stiches from top to bottom, but
in true Morgan-fashion is bouncing around playing.
Morgan is 1 year and 8 months old and the mother of 9.
However, she has always been an adventurer. When
she was young, she would escape out of her cage and travel
the condo in Hawaii after visiting with Rabbie. Once she came
home from her travels pregnant from visiting the boyrats.
Since her surgery, Ms Morgan is truely back into her travels.
She has already snuck out of her recovery cage and explored under
the couch, all over the couch, all over my bed and anywhere else
she can sneak too. She cannot return to her home with her
daughters until the stiches have been removed because
her girls would speedily remove the stiches themselves.
