It was raining out today, pouring, pouring, pouring.
Mom looked out the back door and at first she thought
there was a turkey buzzard in the yard!!!
It was a huge bird as tall as Ko Ko and Merlin almost.
But when Mom looked closer she saw it was not a buzzard,
but a falcon or hawk with a fresh kill. He was eating the innards
of something. In the pouring rain.
He is really huge. Mom said he would eat
the ratties if he saw them and probably bunny
'cause Rabbie isn't very big and he is plump
and would make a tasty morsel. Which is
why we can't go outside.
The falcon gets to go outside, in the rain,
and eat, and fly. This bird is BIG. He is standing about
100 feet out in the yard.
WOW!
The closest hawk listed that Mom could find that looked
like our hawk was the Northern Goshawk, but they are
supposed to live in forest areas. However, they are really large
and like to hunt rabbits which could be what happened
to our family of wild rabbits that lived in the yard under
the shed out back where the bird happens to be eating.
They disappeared awhile ago. Hmmmm. Wonder why this
birdy is not in the forest or maybe Mom misidentified it.
Anyy ideas anyone? It was very tall at least 24 inches.
